Kuhns / Kuntz / Kunz Family: To Wisconsin from Falkenberg, Oberpfalz, Bayern, Deutschland

Kunz Familie of Milwaukee and Hartford, Wisconsin, and Falkenberg, Tirschenreuth, Oberpfalz, Bavaria, Germany

The Johann John KUNZ / KUNTZ / KUHNS and Viktoria MARK or MORMK family came to Wisconsin, (Milwaukee and then Hartford), in 1845 from Falkenberg, Tirschenreuth, Oberpfalz, Bayern, Deutschland. Before then, the KUNZ, MARK and other family lines are mostly within 50 miles of Falkenberg and Tirschenreuth.

I wrote information about how I found John KUNTZ and Victoria MARK, (and the Bavarian connection) here: https://cyranowriter.com/2022/02/15/finding-my-bavarian-roots-geneaology-blogging-prose/

Johann KUNZ / KUNTZ / KUHNS was a master glass cutter in Falkenberg. The family lived at Marktplatz 4, across the public square from the Falkenberg St. Pankratius Catholic Church. Some of this information is available at this Familienforschung – KUNZ > Weiden im Oberpfalz website: http://www.familienforschung-kunz.de/Startseite/

Here is a photo of the church with the family home (in line, directly down, from the steeple of the St. Pankratius Catholic Church).

Kuntz, Baer, Kuhns, Neuber, Klawitter in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Eugene KUNTZ, their son, was also born in Falkenberg. He married Caroline (a?) Baer (Baehr) (Barr) and lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they had John KUHNS. John KUHNS or KUNTZ (born 18 May, 1866 in Milwaukee, died 1948, in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee.

John was a master carpenter and stage worker at the Pabst Theater in downtown Milwaukee.  He married Emma NEUBER in Milwaukee on her birthday, 21 March, in 1888.

Emma NEUBER was born in Milwaukee on 21 March, 1869, and died on 1 March, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her father, Franz or Frank NEUBER, who served in the Civil War along with his brother Gustav Neuber, died in 1877. Emma’s mother, Caroline Klawitter Neuber, lived on 8th Street in Milwaukee until the 20th century, but then all records of Caroline are lost. Did she remarry? Did she have more children?

John KUHNS and Emma Neuber KUHNS were the parents of Carrie KUNTZ, Mamie KUNTZ, Emily KUNTZ, Erma KUNTZ, Eugene KUHNS, and my grandfather, George KUHNS. They are both buried in Union Cemetery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their youngest son was my Grandfather George KUHNS. He had many brothers and sisters, but through the years we have lost track of all of their children and grandchildren. They may have the last names of KUHNS, KUNTZ, PETERS, GUNDLACH and others.
